Newsletter FrontA prominent church in California has hired SG Studios Inc. to design and construct a themed environment for a summer kid’s camp. Children from grades kindergarten through 6th grade will have the opportunity to explore and interact with the three-dimensional space. The interactive set consists of a top-secret lab for time travelers who set off on missions into the past and the future.

The Design

SG Studios Inc. has designed an exterior entryway of a doorway 20 feet wide and 15 feet tall. The entire set is 120 feet wide by 22 feet tall. Key elements include an 8-foot tall rotating industrial fan, a 10-foot tall airshaft, and an industrial pipe 4 feet in diameter. The entire set is divided into three main sections: a front entryway, an entryway into the church, and a time machine pod on stage.

Thematic Elements

To emphasize the sense of maximum security for the top-secret time machine lab, security cameras and monitors will be installed so that children can see each other walking through the lab. Signs will be posting warning children about a laser beam area.

The set design includes a tunnel children can walk through with windows on both sides. On one side of the tunnel, children can see through the window a scene of time traveling scientists working in the lab. On the other side of the tunnel, children see through the window a hall of artifacts. The artifacts are said to have been brought back from missions to the past and future.

Collaboration and Installation

Shane of SG Studios Inc. has been meeting with leading members of the church for the past three months to discuss the elements of the time traveling theme as well as a plan for installation. The church has hired SG Studios Inc. for several areas of the project, which has allowed the church to save on costs. SG Studios Inc. has been hired for design consultation, conceptual design, construction supervision, and prop master. Shane will supervise 30-40 church volunteer staff in framing, dry wall, stage construction, lighting, and video production. He has been meeting with several group leaders to delegate tasks and discuss production plans.
