Shane Grammer has been invited to paint murals with inner-city children at an elementary school called Capital Heights Academy for a few days in the middle of September. Sacramento Art History Consortium (SAHC), an organization dedicated to empowering children through art, heard about Shane’s impact on his community and plans to sponsor Shane as he paints with the elementary school kids on their school campus. SAHC is a relatively new non-profit organization founded by recent college graduates who have the desire to use artwork as a positive force in the community. For more information about SAHC, visit their website at sacramentoarthistory.org, or find their page on Facebook.
Shane will begin by showing the children a display of his artwork. He then plans to describe the process from conceptual design to a finished artwork like they will be doing with their mural. Shane will focus on explaining the details required in painting a mural such as materials needed (acrylics, spray paint) and specific painting techniques. The mural will be 8 feet by 20 feet located in a prominent section on campus.
When describing the upcoming project, Shane states, “This is to empower kids through art. I’m excited to build relationships with SAHC and hopefully we work together on future projects.”
